    An alien probe housing a playful software life-form exited the Bajoran wormhole in 2369. Miles O'Brien dubbed the software "Pup" after it disrupted computer systems to get attention.

    This dilemma will be a great setup for a variety of followups. At the least, it can slow you down drastically; at the worst, you may lose your ship.

    Nullifying it isn't impossible--Computer Skill is pretty common for the Federation, and even for the Romulans--but few crews are really likely to have four. Getting back to your outpost to pick up reinforcements will be hampered considerably by the periodic RANGE disabling.

    Combos:

    "Pup" + Cytherians: You won't even be able to start your trip till your next turn, and every third turn will be a waste.

    "Pup" + Romulan Ambush on the 3rd turn: And you thought you were safe as long as you used something bigger than a shuttlecraft.
