Aefvadh! Continuing with my reviews of the women of Romulus, we have another V.I.P. from Deep Space Nine...

Karina's classification isn't anything earth-shaking; the Romulans have no dearth of V.I.P.s with Treachery, even females. It does mean that she gives you two ways to board your opponent's ship: as a V.I.P., she allows your Away Team to "visit" the opponent if you play Open Diplomatic Relations on his ship; or, use her Transporter Skill with Dropping In to beam through the opponent's SHIELDS. Aside from that, her V.I.P. status will let your ship dock at an incompatible Nor.

Transporter Skill has gained a few uses in DS9, primarily in ridding your ship of "Subspace Seaweed" (though it requires that you control the Science Lab that you beam it to) and curing Vantika’s Neural Pathways (again, you need an Infirmary - thougb it need not be yours). Of course, it still nullifies an Anti-Matter Pod. And if you want to attempt the dual-icon Deliver Supplies (any Non-Aligned in the crew will allow the attempt), she can provide the needed Transporter Skill on the orbiting ship.

SCIENCE is always useful in overcoming dilemmas, but there are more overall useful SCIENCE personnel available to the Romulans - Tallera, N’Vek, and Dr. Telek R’Mor, for example.

Until we see some more uses for Transporter Skill - or more that a boarding party can do - Karina probably isn't going to make my deck list. Even then, Taris and Lovok would be my choices for that skill.

    The Major's Combo:

    • Karina + Open Diplomatic Relations: Once she gets you aboard, her STRENGTH will be an asset in any battle you pursue.
