The first outpost we've seen for the Dominion affiliation is a little unusual in a couple of respects. While it has a few limitations - no ship repairs, restriction to the Gamma Quadrant and to seeding only (it cannot be built during the game) - like any outpost it allows compatible personnel, ships and equipment to report there, and it has some tempting advantages as well.
First, it is not restricted to Dominion-affiliation mission locations, and you may seed more than one. While you may not want to devote too many seed slots to supply depots, two of these should give you ready access to reporting capabilities regardless of the length of the Gamma Quadrant spaceline. A carefully chosen location at your opponent's mission will allow you to maintain an intimidating presence in "his" territory.
Second, and more important, is its ability to seed up to three non-weapon equipment cards aboard, and to reset Ketracel-White countdowns. The most important non-weapon equipment card for the Dominion will undoubtedly be Ketracel-White, as the Jem'Hadar require it, use it up and go berserk if they run out. Seedable Ketracel-White will ensure that you may safely report on your first turn a Jem'Hadar drawn in your opening hand. Additionally, because the white counts down as the Jem'Hadar "use" it, you will either need to continually report more, or else reset the countdown. Again, having more than one Primary Supply Depot on your spaceline will make the resets more accessible.
Combos:
- Primary Supply Depot x2 + Ketracel-White: A reset is always close at hand.
- Primary Supply Depot + opponent's Colony Preparations: It may not be as easy you thought to score points from that Colony.
