List of "infiltratos" for Data and Picard: |
This Card-Review article was written by Kathy McCracken and was published first on "Decipher's Website (decipher.com)" at Sep 25th, 2000.
Romulan and Federations fans alike have long awaited the "Romulan" versions of Data and Picard, from the duo's attempt to retrieve Spock from Romulus. While many have guessed that they would be dual-affiliation, probably few anticipated that they would arrive in the guise of a dual-personnel card. This pair will fit neatly into the most popular Romulan deck archetypes, with Data's ENGINEER and Astrophysics targeting the space missions and Picard's Archaeology and Anthropology aimed directly at the planet missions. With one card, you have a backup to some of the most essential skills of both Dr. Telek R'Mor and Senator Vreenak. Picard can even pass Primitive Culture if you don't have any Tal Shiar handy.
As CIVILIANS, they can report to the Promenade Shops of any Nor, and Data's Computer Skill will allow the duo to commandeer it from your opponent if you fancy a Romulan or Federation Nor. Or they could remain at the Shops for probing at the end of each turn, "shopping" for events and equipment. Your Cardassian or Klingon opponent might think twice about probing there himself, unless he's anxious for a brawl with an android/human pair with a combined STRENGTH of 18.
Persona exchanges provide some interesting possibilities for Federation players, with the opportunity to acquire a skill that no other Jean-Luc Picard has (Anthropology) and two CIVILIANs. And with the addition of Lore's Fingernail to make androids Non-Aligned, even the Romulans can exchange the dual card for Galen and either version of Data.
Combos:
- Jean-Luc Picard + Data + Data and Picard + Colony: After using the individual OFFICER versions for mission-solving, let the CIVILIAN versions retire to a Colony to quickly top off your points to 100.
- Data and Picard + Explore Typhon Expanse II: In a Warp Speed tournament, seed Data and Picard at your built-in outpost. If you draw a Stellar Cartography personnel, Data supplies the Astrophysics to complete the mission. If not, the pair gives you 20 of the 51 CUNNING you'll need to use the alternate requirements. And if your outpost gets destroyed, Data's ENGINEER skill lets you promptly rebuild.
