    Rule hint for this card

    This card has an clarification:

This incident allows your personnel to use 2 Treachery as if it were 1 Diplomacy (either one personnel with Treachery x2, or two personnel, each with Treachery). For example, two personnel who have Treachery and another who has Treachery x2 can provide 2 Diplomacy (if any are mission specialists, this counts as using their skill to meet a mission requirement for the Assign Mission Specialists objective). A personnel may not use their skill as Treachery and Diplomacy at the same time. You do not have to declare in advance how you are using the 2 Treachery; when a requirement for Diplomacy arises, you may meet that requirement by showing 2 Treachery on qualifying personnel in the crew or Away Team.

    The Art of Diplomacy

This Card-Review article was written by Evan Lorentz and was published first on "Decipher's Website (decipher.com)" at Dec 4th, 2000.

This versatile incident has three possible uses -- any one of which should make it worth including in your deck. When they're all rolled together, how can you say no?

First, it allows certain personnel to employ their own special brand of "Diplomacy," substituting 2 Treachery and a hand weapon for 1 Diplomacy. The fact that only Mirror Quadrant, Maquis, Resistance, and Orion Syndicate personnel get this benefit isn't all that prohibitive, as there are quite a few of those personnel to go around. Especially devious people like The Intendant and Security Chief Garak have the 2 Treachery ready and waiting without even needing to team up with anyone else. With Reflection Therapy you can make several more self-contained "diplomats" (just add a second Treachery to people like Liam Bilby, Sakonna, or Tahna Los, or add Resistance or Orion Syndicate to others like Ja'rod, the Founder Leader, or Lore).

Second, these same specific personnel allow you to place a copy of The Art of Diplomacy out-of-play (limit once per turn) to kill any one personnel present. Move over Leck; if you thought once per game just wasn't enough for a nasty trick like this, you now have a new option.

Finally, once per game, you can discard The Art of Diplomacy to download a hand weapon to a personnel who has 2 Treachery. That's handy for setting up the other functions on another copy of the incident, but will also do nicely in a battle-oriented deck, or just for help against dilemmas like Denevan Neural Parasites and Berserk Changeling.

    Combos:

The Art of Diplomacy + Security Chief Garak: This Garak can download any Cardassian equipment card, which means you can save yourself from discarding another copy of The Art of Diplomacy for the weapon you need.

The Art of Diplomacy + Hagath + Breen CRM114: Hagath not only has Treachery x2, he is an arms dealer, perfect if you wanna download a real hand weapon.
