    The Pendari Champion

Occasionally, it's worth a bit of effort to get a certain personnel into your deck, because the card enhances the theme you're playing, or it's a good counter card. When it comes to personnel battle, the Pendari Champion is one of those cards.

Leaving the Delta Quadrant is surprisingly easy. A seeded Defend Homeworld and Temporal Micro-Wormhole will let you download him directly to any non-NA ship in any quadrant. Or you can target his Geology with I'm A Doctor, Not A Bricklayer to grab him that way. (And of course, there's the old fashioned "report for duty" thing.)

Any number of affiliations will want to get their hands on the Champion, for his special skill - like Toman'torax, you can pair him first in personnel battle. But as an added bonus, you also get to choose who the Champion will face. With STRENGTH of 15, he can safely face people like Lore or Data, saving your weaker personnel from having to pair against them. Or you can pair Mr. Pendari against one of your opponent's important SCIENCE or MEDICAL (who tend to have lower STRENGTH), taking out mission or dilemma requirements. SECURITY and Leadership let him start a fight, and use such battle-related cards as Bodyguards and Prepare Assault Teams.

Versatility may not be the Champion's strong suit, but when you need to do some butt-whomping, he's the guy to call!

    Combos:

The Pendari Champion + Toman'torax: Not only can the Champion hold his own with the Dominion, he can provide a backup to Toman'torax's battle skill (and doesn't even need White.)

The Pendari Champion + Mondor and its crew: Give the Pakleds some additional muscle to make things go.

The Pendari Champion + hologram decks: Need to keep a nice strong non-photonic personnel around? Good luck trying to kill this guy off.
